Join us for a vibrant 3-month journey through Tamil Nadu’s most celebrated folk dance forms – Oyilattam, Devarattam, and Parai/Thappattam. Each month focuses on one traditional art form, helping participants learn the movements, cultural roots, and rhythm unique to each style. Perfect for teens and adults who love dance, tradition, and community! By the esteemed Gramiya Kalaimani Awardee, Kannan Kumar Master, Nellai Manikandan Master & Sharath This specially designed class will take participants through three iconic folk forms – Oyilattam, Devarattam, and Parai/Thappattam – each offering its own unique rhythm, energy, and cultural expression. Participants will: - Learn foundational to intermediate choreography in each form - Explore the cultural and historical significance of each dance - Build rhythm, coordination, and expressive movement - Engage with live folk music and traditional instruments like the Thappu and Urumi - Perform as a group in a celebratory showcase at the end of the series Whether you're a beginner or have some dance experience, this class is an invitation to move, connect, and express with the raw, joyful energy of Tamil folk dance.
